Government Grants Can Bring Hope to the Classroom

Free Government Money Can Bring Hope to the Classroom

Grants Can Provide Hope into the Classroom

Teachers can apply to get free government money that cover educational funding. Being an educator or teacher is considered a prestigious accomplishment. Often times, teachers are highly valued for their hard work and dedication toward pupils. One of the biggest difficulties teachers face is not having enough money for classroom resources and materials. Too many school districts can’t provide educators with a reasonable budget. And so, many teachers have dipped into their own pockets in order to give students the supplies they need for projects and educational resources. How can grants help to improve the education of our children?

Within the past decade, there has been a good deal of debate concerning the status of schools in Americal. In fact, Presidnet George Bush and local government officials have made a combined attempt to better Schools in the United States. On behaf of the 2001 No Child Left Behind Act, several government grant programs were established. Those government grants were made available to teachers so they can improve instruction within the classroom. Additionally, teachers are encouraged to put in applications for grants to help pay for one on one tutoring and summer programs.

Educators shouldn’t feel like they are required to reach into their own pocket books for field trips, projects, or materials. Alternatively, they should utilize grants for classroom resources. Teachers can apply for grants to help them with implementing projects, taking field trips, and buying materials. Remember, the proposal needs to meet with the state curriculum benchmarks and standards to be used within their classrooms.

When filling out applications for government grant programs to help with the purposes of education, it is very important to do enough research about the kind of project that you’re proposing. Typically, it is better for teachers to obtain permission from their supervising principal or the head of the department to apply for Government grant programs. Following permission from your superiors, you ought to invite other teachers to participate who might like to help with your grant application. A good way to speed the process up and to add to your grant proposal is to create a grant writing team for the proposal. Additionally, applying early in the year for government funding will work for your benefit. First, at the first of the year there are more funds available. Secondly, if your grant proposal isn’t approved in time for the current year, you can add the project in the next school year.

Be sure to provide a list of all the things that will be necessary to implement the classroom project. This information should be thoroughly explained in the proposal. While government grants for classroom purposes were created to be an asset to students, it’s helpful to write a proposal that will create employment opportunities. You might consider hiring a few people that are qualified to help with the project. For example, your proposal could incorporate a summer program. You will have to assign an activity leader (if other than yourself) and an assistant or two. Creating employment opportunities has a positive effect on the Economy of the United States. Actually, it could increase your chances of getting chosen for free grants. Take into consideration, that it’s in the best interest of the government to help improve Education. As an educator, you have every right to apply for college grants for educational purposes and programs to improve the education of our children.

The Timing Issue on Government Grants

Written by admin on March 22nd, 2009

When it comes to government grants, it is not simple to obtain the funds that are provided by government agencies. There is a lot of bureaucratic paperwork to be filled and many actions to be taken in order to qualify for such government aid. Moreover, there is a particular issue that needs to be taken into account when applying for financial aid through government grants: The timing for applying.

Government grants are not available all the time and you need to be well aware of this fact in order not to let pass by an opportunity just because you did not know that there was a time limit for submissions & presentations at the government agency that provided the financial aid. Thus, when it comes to governments grants, time is of the essence.

Government Grants Explained

Government grants are awarded by government agencies to those who meet certain eligibility criteria that the agency defines. Grants are a form of financial aid that does not need to be reimbursed and thus are greatly demanded. That’s the reason why there are such strict requirements in order to get approved for a government grant.

One of the requirements is obviously, to request the grant by filling the appropriate forms attaching all the documentation and information required by the government agency. There is always a period of time in the year when requests are received at the government agency and there is a very strict policy regarding non receivable out-of-date applications.

Timing Is The Key Word

Thus, in order to obtain a government grant successfully, you will need to prepare yourself. It is important that you collect all the information needed to present a government grant request and that you find out which is the proper time to apply for the government grant. This information can be obtained from the government agencies’ internet sites that usually have a grants section.

Also, there are many sites on the internet offering resources regarding government grants and detailed explanations on how and when to apply to each particular government grant. In any case, you should always confirm with the agency this information as any stipulation may change with a mere resolution from the agencies’ head. You need to pay special attention to the period when applications are received and the due dates. A mere delay of a single day may cause immediate rejection of your application.

Federal Register

Each time a government agency makes funds available through government grants, they are required to announce the terms for approval and the period for application presentations in the Federal Register. The Federal Register has a web site you can consult and so do the government agencies. You will be able to find there all the information you need in order to successfully apply for a government grant. There are also some sites that take the job to put all the information from each agency together and present it in a user-friendly manner. Some of these sites also offer assistance on filling the applications and advice as to which grant to apply and how to do it in order to boost your chances of getting approved.

The Power of Government Grants

Written by admin on March 19th, 2009

There are many different government grants available, from a great many different sources, and these government grants can be a godsend for anyone trying to start a new business, put themselves or their children through school or even buy a first home.

These government grants are available from a wide variety of government agencies. There are government grants available from the Federal government. There are government grants available from state governments, and there are even government grants available from local government agencies. With all these grants to choose from it can be difficult to know where to start, or how to qualify for the government grants that are available.

The first step is to become educated on the whole subject of government grants. The amounts available through these grants vary quite widely, from less than $100 to many thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars. As one would expect, the level of competition for these high value government grants can be quite tough, and there are specific requirements for each type of government grant.

Some government grants are available only to residents of certain states or municipalities, while others are restricted to those who work in certain industries, or who come from a certain socioeconomic background. It is important to review the qualifications of the government grant carefully, and to focus your energy on those government grants for which you are fully qualified.

One of the most important uses of government grants is to support first time home buyers and help renters to get into the homes they need. There are many government grants for first time home buyers, and it is important for any new home buyer, no matter what his or her level of income, to discuss available government grants with his or her realtor. The income requirements for these home buyer government grants are often quite generous, and it would be a mistake for any first time buyer to assume that they do not qualify. A qualified real estate agent should be able to help you fill out the paperwork for the government grants for which you are qualified, and these first time home buyer government grants can end up saving the first time buyer thousands of dollars on closing costs and other fees.

Government grants are also a hot issue when it comes to college education. As any parent knows, the costs of higher education have been rising far faster than the rate of overall inflation, and government grants of all sizes are available to help people cope with these rising costs.

When applying for these government grants, the key is to apply early. Many of the best college education government grants are distributed on a first come first served basis, so the earlier you start applying the grater your chances of scoring some of the millions of dollars of government grants that are available to help pay for college costs.

Is there any government grants for first time home buyers on modular homes?

Written by admin on March 18th, 2009

I want to know if any government grant or program is availlable for me when buying a new modular home or maybe a stick built home. I prefer the grants that are not required to be paid back. Basically what are the options for me?

Most states offer programs for first time home buyers. Some state programs specify the type of home, condo, etc that must be purchased…and some may allow modular homes to be purchased as part of these programs.

Check out the link below to see what programs your state offers.

Good luck!

Where can I found out about government grants with out having to pay anything?

Written by admin on March 16th, 2009

I m looking for government grants for school and education and also a personal grants I know they are out there but where.

For education - Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant — this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf

In terms of personal grants — the government is NOT in the business of giving away free money for the sake of giving away money. There are no grants for paying bills, no grants for paying off credit cards, no grants for getting out of debt and no grants for simply fattening your wallet.

Grants are free, but it means OBLIGATION. You will be obligated to do as the grant sets out to do. Grants have objectives, and your purpose must fit the objective of the grant.

For one, you have to write the grant application and the grant application is not a simple document - you have to explain how your purpose for applying for the grant fits well with the objectives set out by the grant.

There is a stringent review process through a committee. You will compete with other applicants for the grant money, and this grant review committee will evaluate the merits of each proposal. Only those that they feel exemplifies the objective of the grant will be approved.

You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes.

Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants — all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently.

Note though that these grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program. Individuals especially for personal purposes are not eligible for federal grants.

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

Matthew Lesko has a book out on government grants, how do I go about finding that book and how much is it?

I'm looking for government grants for automotive bill payments. Any help on this topic will be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all.
thanks y'all.

Forget about buying Lesko's book. You can get the information for FREE

Unfortunately for you, there are NO FEDERAL grants for automotive bill payments. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate (especially Lesko), federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business or for personal financial gain such as automotive bill payments.

Where is the best place to learn about getting free government grants?

Written by admin on March 12th, 2009

I want to start a small business and have heard that one can receive free government grants from the U.S. government. I believe that a grant of this nature would help me greatly in getting my business started. I have a fresh idea and am ready to create a business plan to present. Where do I go to get these government grants?

There are essentially only 3 sources for grants.

Federal grants are called Small Business Innovation Research grants. These are given primarily for some new innovation. You can find out what's available at http://www.sbirworld.com. There is also info on this site about how to apply.

Some cities offer grants to small businesses if they will locate in the downtown area, for the purposes of building up downtown traffic. Check with City Hall.

Finally, private foundations offer grants. You can get a list of most US Foundations and private grant sources at http://www.foundations.org/grantmakers.html.

where can I find the best Grants in the gvernment How can I find the right government grants to work with?

Written by admin on March 10th, 2009

I need to find the best resuls to apply for a government Grants
to start a business. As soon as possible.

It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for starting a for-profit business.

One possible exception is for companies developing or exporting agricultural goods, including food and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/sbir/index.html , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets specific government needs.

Your best bet actually will be from the states if they offer grant programs for women (or any other special interest groups — minorities, women, disabled, veterans, etc). Or check with non profit organizations, particularly women organizations if they offer grants. Examples include

Iowa Women's Foundation http://www.iawf.org/
New Mexico Women's Foundation http://www.nmwf.org/guidelines.html

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE'S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.BROWSE_BENEF_RPT.show

I suggest you read the following books to get ideas of how to finance your business:

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I take it they also don't have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.

What is the real story about these government grants?

Written by admin on March 8th, 2009

I have talked to phony people on the phone that promise me that a check is in the mail for $25,000 for a government grant and they even give me a confirmation number. But then they take money out of my checking account and no check ever arrives. What really is the story about these government grants? Please Please Please somebody help me.

I am sorry that you fell for a scam.

The Government NEVER calls anyone to tell them that there are grants available. Nor do they charge anything for grants. Stay away from companies that tell you that there are grants available for any purpose that you can think of, that there are free money available because that is absolutely FALSE.

The government is NOT in the business of giving away free money for the sake of giving away money. There are no grants for paying bills, for getting out of debt or for buying a car. Grants are free, but it means OBLIGATION. You will be obligated to do as the grant sets out to do. Grants have objectives, and your purpose must fit the objective of the grant.

Are the any government grants out there to help a low income family buy a home?

Written by admin on March 6th, 2009

Are there any government grants out there to help a low income family buy a home. I'm a first time home buyer and I can never seem to same any money for a down payment. The cost of the home I would like to buy is $137,000, land, septic and all. Its perfect in a quiet neighborhood and all. Thanks.

Look into down payment assistance.

I think the way it works is that you contact a lender and they work with the company to get a charity to donate the downpayment assistance.

Usually requires cooperation from the seller.
