Are there any government grants for disabled people to help with their bills?

Written by admin on May 3rd, 2009

I got married and we bought a house 5 years ago. 3 years later I became disabled, and now we are in fear of losing our home. Are there any government grants for people who have become disabled and are in over their heads financially?

The government has created a site called GovBenefits.gov http://www.govbenefits.gov/govbenefits_en.portal which can tell you what benefits you can get from the government because of your situation

Under BENEFITS QUICK SEARCH –> click on DISABILITY ASSISTANCE

http://www.govbenefits.gov/govbenefits_en.portal

The site will give you ALL the possible benefits including grants that you can get from the government

However, there are no grants for paying bills, no grants for paying off credit cards, no grants for getting out of debt and no grants for those simply over their heads.

Well if your disabled you should be getting SSI , but other then that I think the buck stops there… sad to say as costs go up the elderly and disabled persons of our country suffer the first…They are the weakest link and most open to this form of gouging. And it is gouging , seems like Bush and his band of crack toting buddies want to crash the dollar on purpose to allow more options into the limelight to start the shafta of NAU and the FTA.

Other than disability payments, I don't know of any federal grants for paying bills. For that you need to look locally. Either your city or possibly your state might have something, but it's usually just a one time grant. If you're not already getting SSI, you need to go apply for that. But be prepared for a fight. It's like pulling teeth and often requires a lawyer to get your benefits.
