Matthew Lesko has a book out on government grants, how do I go about finding that book and how much is it?
Written by admin on March 14th, 2009
I'm looking for government grants for automotive bill payments. Any help on this topic will be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all.
thanks y'all.
Forget about buying Lesko's book. You can get the information for FREE
You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.
Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants — all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently.
Unfortunately for you, there are NO FEDERAL grants for automotive bill payments. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate (especially Lesko), federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business or for personal financial gain such as automotive bill payments.
Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program
Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

Go to the local library.

Your library should have it. Mine does.
If not try Amazon.com and search for lesko

Dear Mr. Anderson
That stuff is mostly bunk unless you happen to be a woman, single head of household, and/or minority. I bought the book for 40 bucks a few years back. I live in AZ and am a Christian white male. NOTHING in that book for me. You want grants, go to the public library and get actual books and information for the asking for free.

I just took the book out from the library. Had to reserve it and it took almost 6 months to get but it is very informative. Worth the wait.

Here is a list of books and prices at Barnes and Nobles. If you don't want to go through B&N you could search Amazon.com or Borders.com. Hope this helps.

I met Matthew Lesko when he came to Ocean City last month.
He drives an orange PT Cruiser that has question marks all over it. I told him I was going to order his books on his website (google his name) and he told me not to bother because you can get them at the library.

This book is $40.00 or so. Put $40.00 in a good mutual fund instead. No-one can teach you how to rip the government off, it's an undesirable skill some people are just born with. And anyway if there is so much free money for the taking, why doesn't the sartorially elegant Mr.Lesko just take it, instead of spending so much advertising his book?
Why would there be a grant for a car repair bill, exactly, anyway?
I don't mean to be mean, but did you get an estimate before you ended up with an "automotive bill payment" you can't afford?

My impression from what I've read is that the book is useless. See this website.
